Can Vaping Save Lives? Is it safer than smoking? Posted on 31 Jan 12:03

Vaping has the potential to save millions of lives by providing a less harmful alternative to smoking cigarettes.

Smoking cigarettes is one of the leading preventable causes of death worldwide, causing lung cancer, heart disease, stroke, and other serious health problems. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), smoking kills more than 8 million people each year.

Vaping, on the other hand, is considered to be less harmful than smoking cigarettes as it does not involve the combustion of tobacco, which is responsible for the release of many harmful chemicals and carcinogens. A Public Health England (PHE) report in 2018 estimated that vaping is at least 95% less harmful than smoking.

Vaping can also be an effective tool for helping smokers quit. Nicotine replacement therapy (NRT), such as nicotine patches and gum, has been shown to be effective in helping smokers quit. However, some smokers find NRT to be less satisfying than cigarettes, which can make it harder to quit. E-cigarettes, on the other hand, provide a similar experience to smoking, including the hand-to-mouth action and the inhaling and exhaling of a vapor, which can make them a more appealing option for smokers looking to quit.

In addition, vaping products do not produce secondhand smoke, which means that the people around a vaper are not exposed to the harmful chemicals that are present in cigarette smoke.
